  • 9/17 - River Campus Meet #2

    Lindsey Bachman
It was another toasty evening out at the River Campus, but the temperatures weren't the biggest high of the day! 14 fierce 5th grade Tigers toe-ed the line and gave it their all out on the 1.5 mile course. The race was co-ed and while there was no team scoring for the 5/6th race of the evening, there were many personal best times and excellent efforts to celebrate!

Graham Unger led the way for the USN boys at the very front of the field, crossing the finish line in 9:56 (3rd place overall), one of only three runners to break the 10 minute barrier in the race. Next to cross for the Tigers was Kian Jain in his debut race of the season, coming in just under the 12 minute mark in a time of 11:52. Shortly after, a stream of cardinal and columbia blue crossed the finish line - Sebi Lupo (12:19), Caleb Magner (12:26), Elliott Katz (12:39), and Ziyan Jones (12:56) displayed smart pacing throughout the race and broke 13 minutes. Breland Walsh was first to cross for the USN girls in 13:09 and was followed closely by a stellar pack of Mira Porte (13:15), Gigi Sheats (13:16), Miles Flatau (13:21), Lainey Ellis (13:27), and August Lewis (13:34). Maxine Miller and Olivia Martin (in her debut race) rounded out our USN field with strong finishes of 14:55 and 15:54 respectively.

Our PR queen and king of the meet are two individuals who each dropped nearly 2 minutes off their previous best from last week. Gigi improved her time by 1:58, and Miles by 1:52!! Absolutely fantastic work! Other PRs were earned by: Maxine & Ziyan (both 1:26), Breland (0:42), Graham (0:40), Mira (0:30), Sebi (0:26), and Lainey (0:13). And once again congratulations to Kian, August, and Olivia for all completing their first races!!

With just one week to go in our season, the Tigers will reflect, celebrate, and lock in our focus to next week's culminating HVAC Championships!
