The Tigers wrapped up their regular season play last night in a tough matchup against MTCS, the number one team in the district. Despite their best efforts, the Tigers fell in three sets (15-25, 17-25, 14-25). It was a hard-fought battle, showcasing their determination and skill. The Tigers had really great moments during the match. There were big swings, bigger blocks and impressive defense. The Tigers definitely left it all out on the court and should be proud of their effort. The Tigers finished the match with 22 skills, 6 blocks, 2 aces, 51 digs, and 21 assists.
The Tigers secured a win against The Webb School last night in Bell Buckle, TN (25-16, 25-15, 23-25, 25-15). While it may not have been the cleanest performance, the Tigers are happy to add another win to their district record. Each set had its challenges, but the Tigers dug deep, rallying together to clinch the match in four sets. As the season begins to wind down, the focus now shifts to finishing strong and building momentum for a playoff run. Every match counts, and with this victory, we’re one step closer to our goals. In a challenging match against the FRA Panthers, the Tigers struggled to find their rhythm, leading to a disappointing loss. From the start, the team faced difficulties making consistent runs, which put us at a disadvantage. The first set saw the Panthers take control early, and despite some strong plays from our side, we couldn’t close the gap, losing 12-25. In the next two sets, we attempted to regroup, but our offense remained out of sync, and we fell short, 9-25 and 10-25. Overall, it was a frustrating match for the Tigers. The Tigers will travel to The Webb School on Monday, September 23rd for their next match - our biggest goal is to bounce back stronger!
What an incredible evening in the Sperling gym for Senior Night! The Tigers took on the Webb School and swept the match in three sets (32-30, 25-21, 25-19). It was a fitting tribute to a talented group of athletes, and the memories made on this special night will be cherished for years to come. The first set was especially special, allowing all the seniors on the roster to take the court together. It was a heartwarming sight to see them play side by side, showcasing their teamwork and camaraderie in one of their final appearances as a unit. The night wrapped up with a heartfelt dinner, honoring the seniors for their dedication and hard work. The Tigers will compete again at home on Thursday, September 19th.
The Tigers faced a tough defeat at home against the visiting PCA Lions. The Tigers struggled to find their rhythm and fell in three straight sets (17-25, 18-25, 13-25). The Lion’s aggressive serves and powerful offense kept the Tigers on the defensive throughout the match. Key players from PCA capitalized on every opportunity, and their effective blocking slowed down the Tigers' offensive attempts. Despite this loss, the Tigers showed flashes of their greatness throughout the match and will look to regroup and prepare for their next match on Monday, September 16th at BGA.
The Tigers are still running hot after taking home first place in the Overton Bobcat Classic Tournament (Silver Division) on Saturday and sweeping the GCA Lions at home on Monday. On Tuesday, the Tigers traveled to Columbia for their 9th volleyball match in just 4 days. They meant business and knew they wanted to keep the winning streak alive. The Tigers won the match in straight sets (25-23, 25-11, 25-9). The Tigers finished the match with 20 aces, 7 blocks, 22 kills, and 33 digs. The Tigers hosted the GCA Lions for Spirit Night on Monday, September 9th. There was an eclectic vibe with the all school event taking place. The crowds were large and the volume was loud. This is exactly what the Tigers needed to continue on their path of high energy playing. The Tigers swept the Loins in three straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-22). From the first serve of the match, the Tigers controlled the momentum throughout the night. Their serve receive was on target, the offense was big and fast and their defense was unstoppable. The Tigers finished the night with 9 aces, 4 blocks, 63 digs and 33 kills. The Tigers will face the Bulldogs in their next match on Tuesday, September 10th at Columbia Academy.
On Thursday, the Tigers battled hard but fell to a strong MTCS team in three sets (9-25, 15-25, 25-27). Despite the loss, the Tigers maintained a high level of energy throughout the match, with standout effort and teamwork. Their determination was evident, even in defeat. This is a huge turn around from their match just a couple days prior. The Tigers finished the match with 3 aces, 5 blocks, 18 kills, and 46 digs. They will compete again on Monday at home against Grace Christian Academy.
