  • Tigers Corral the LA Mustangs!

High atop a parking garage on the Lipscomb University campus, our Tigers arrived ready to play, but not sure what to expect.  Lipscomb is tricky, you never know what kind of fillies they have in their stable.

The Singles sisterhood kicked off the match with line 3 singles player Audrey playing an opponent who kept up with Audrey stroke for stroke, but in the middle of the match with Audrey up 5-4,this Mustang needed to default due to a hurt ankle.  1 point for the Tigers.  Elizabeth took care of business on line 2 singles, quickly advancing to a 8-3 win with her serious game face and consistent groundstrokes!  2 points for the Tigers!

CC had the Match of the Day at line 1 singles!  A hard hitting opponent was getting the better of CC, keeping the score uneven and tipped towards the Mustang on the other side of the court.  Suddenly, at 5-6 down, CC got her growl on and started to lasso the points in her direction. Once CC got up 8-7, she giddy-upped and put the match in the barn, winning 9-7! A great personal victory for CC!

Doubles looked like a mis-match for Charlotte and Sydney, with their height overshadowing their smaller opponents. The strength of our Tigers proved too much for the line 1 doubles Mustangs, giving USN another point with the score of 8-3.  Well done!  Hattie and Rose wrapped up our match on the rooftop range with opponents that were evenly matched.  Strong baseline rallies from our Tigers and great doubles communication set up some good winning shots by our line 2 doubles partners, earning our final point of the match.  Good teamwork by our doubles teams!
  • Tennis Tigers Cage Harding Hawks

The USN Spirit Night warmed up at the River Campus Courts this afternoon.
Our Tennis Tigers were ready for the match against the Harding Hawks and stepped up in TIGER fashion with a peppy warm up and lots of excitement.

Our Singles Sisterhood--CC, Elizabeth and Audrey-took the courts and brought their growl to their opponents.  The plan was--consistency, first serves and PING-our new version of hitting at least 4 balls in a rally, expecting to hit one more ball than their opponent!
Elizabeth captured the first point for the team on line 2 easy peasy, while our Doubles Divas, Charlotte and Sydney, duked it out on their court, coming up with our second team point.  Applause on court 1 for CC's win tipped their tight match score to 3 for our Tigers.  Fresh off her nail biting win at BA, Audrey had the comeback win of the day, finding herself down 3-7 (playing an 8 game pro set) and rallying to win 7 straight games to capture her team point with a 9-7 victory!!  Hattie and Rose brought their doubles win to the team to claim the SWEEEEEP of the Harding Hawks.
    Great work today, Tigers!
Eloise, Claire, Hadley, Mattie James, Imaan, Parker, Syra and Lucy jumped on the courts for short set matches, finishing just in time to race back to USN for SPIRIT NIGHT!

  • JV Debut Match @ River Campus

The Girls JV USN Tennis Team made their home  opener  debut today at River Campus.
Our opponent was St. Cecilia Academy, a team we have faced in the past.
All three of our doubles matches were fought hard and evenly matched.
Our JV Girls have been improving every week and I am looking forward to our future matches knowing that whoever our Girls face they won’t go down without a fight.
