4.1 No Foolin, Tigers Earn 40 PRs @ MBA

Lindsey Bachman
On Wednesday, our Tigers traveled down the road to compete in their first away meet of the season at MBA. Facing off against some powerhouse teams in our conference (MBA, CPA, ENS, and HH) and some familiar opponents from last week (MJCA and SCA) our Tigers did an excellent job applying lessons and experience gained from our first meet to put forth strong performances across the board. Due to meet entry limitations, the larger programs of MBA, CPA, ENS, and HH for the most part did not have their 6th graders competing in the meet. With nearly half of our team being made up of 6th graders, I am extra proud of the effort and tenacity our 6th graders showed against such a competitive field. While the meet was not scored, and no comprehensive results were provided, our amazing coaches worked hard to capture all of our own team's times and marks in the field events. Those results can be found here under the tab "MBA Meet Results," but please read on below to celebrate all the amazing highlights from the day:

PERSONAL BESTS
Across all events, our athletes earned a whopping 40 personal best marks, a clear indication that training is progressing effectively and competitive experience is paying off. It's rewarding and inspiring to see how much improvement and growth occurred in just one week from our 1st to 2nd meet.

TOP PERFORMANCE
Mahalia Moore secured our only 1st place finish of the day with her impressive jump of 16-0.25 in the girls long jump. While this was not her personal best (16-7.5), it was still more than 12 inches farther than any of her fellow competitors' marks. It is not an easy feat to win a field event, let alone in such a commanding fashion amidst steep competition. Huge shout out to Mahalia!

REFLECTION
As you reflect on this last meet experience and look to set your goals for our remaining two regular season meets, consider these questions:
  • How did you feel about your total event load?
  • Where do you feel you are able to contribute most to the team?
  • What skills do you feel you need more specific practice with before the next meet?
  • What habit(s) can you commit to over these next two weeks to help you work toward your goals?
