Details announced for Lower School performances on November 25-26

Read on for parking details and other instructions for Parents' Day at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 25 and Grandparents' & Special Friends’ Day at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26. If a grandparent or special friend is disabled and needs floor seating, please email Lower School Administrative Assistant Annie Stewart to reserve chair seating. Able-bodied guests sit in bleachers.
Excitement is building with each rehearsal as we look forward to special performances for Lower School families and friends in the Sperling Gym. In order to guarantee space for everyone, parents and siblings should only attend the Parents’ Day performance at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 25 so that grandparents and friends will have enough seating  at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26.

Parking & Shuttle Service
Parents’ Day parking on Monday, November 25 is available at Vanderbilt University Lot No. 77 located on 18th Avenue and Vanderbilt University Lot No. 111 on 19th Avenue South.

On Tuesday, November 26, faculty and staff will park off campus to make room in USN’s 19th and 21st parking lots for guests who require accessibility accommodations. Able-bodied guests should park in the Vanderbilt University Lot No. 77 located on 18th Avenue across from the Kennedy Center and Lot No. 111 located on 19th Avenue behind the ROTC building. Refer to the parking map here.

Before and after the Tuesday performance, USN buses will provide shuttle service between Vanderbilt University Lot No. 77 and USN. All shuttles will pick up and drop off in USN's 19th Avenue parking lot.

Getting to Sperling Gym
Elevators are available at the Tibbott Center (accessible from the 21st Avenue parking lot), 19th Avenue main entrance, and Hassenfeld Library. They will be marked with signage, and ushers will be present to assist guests.

Arrival & Seating
Parents and families should arrive no earlier than 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 25. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 for grandparents and special friends, and we will offer coffee and doughnuts in Sperling Cafeteria. The USN Spirit Store also will offer a pop-up shop in Sperling Cafeteria with new apparel, swag.

If a grandparent or special friend is disabled and needs floor seating, please email Lower School Administrative Assistant Annie Stewart to reserve chair seating. Able-bodied guests sit in bleachers.

The Sperling Gym is always a tight squeeze during this special event with guests even crowding doorways. Please be mindful of other Lower School families by bringing no more than four grandpaents or special friends as well as by watching your child's performance on Parents' Day, Monday, November 25.

Seating on both days will be color-coded with hearts to help you find the best side of the gym to watch your child. We encourage guests to select seating corresponding to the youngest child’s class.

After the Performance & Dismissal
On Parents' Day, students will return to their assigned places following the performance, and parents may sign out their children with their teacher. Please pick up your kindergartners and first, second, and third graders from their classrooms. Fourth graders will stay in the gym. For the handful of students remaining and not headed to After School, afternoon dismissal will take place after parked vehicles clear the 21st Garage.

On Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day, specific dismissal instructions will be provided to guests in Sperling Gym at the conclusion of the performance. After School will not be available on Tuesday, November 26, and all Lower Schoolers must go home immediately following the performance.

Please contact Lower School Administrative Assistant Annie Stewart at 615-321-8022 with questions and concerns.
