The first student in University School of Nashville's Class of 2026 has committed to continuing her athletic career at the college level. Before classmates, teammates from USN and other Nashville-area schools, coaches, and her family during the signing ceremony held in Durnan Auditorium on Wednesday, January 7, Maeve Stevenson '26 shared her plans to continue playing volleyball with the Eagles at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Maeve said she chose Emory for its supportive community, beautiful campus, and strong volleyball program, and also expressed gratitude to her teammates, coaches, trainers, and teachers for their support. Her USN and club volleyball coaches highlighted her leadership, athletic abilities, and academic achievements and praised Maeve's dedication, impact, and potential for success at the next level.
"Maeve is a total package. Her height is what most people see when they look at her on the court, but she is so much more than that. Maeve is an incredible leader. Maeve represented us and volleyball with such class and heart, and her teammates absolutely adored her," said USN High School Volleyball Coach Lauren Cox. "These past four years have been such a joy for me as your coach. I'm incredibly proud of you, and I can't think of a more deserving act. You completely earned this moment just by being you. I can't wait to see you succeed at the next level."
The ceremony concluded with a signing, cake, and photos with family and friends celebrating Maeve's accomplishments and future prospects.
Students and faculty have resumed composting at USN. Through collaboration, persistence, and student leadership across all divisions, the program has already gotten off to a great start.
