Mock Trial wins district tournament

During the Mock Trial tournament at the historic downtown courthouse, USN took down a formidable Harpeth Hall team in the final to become district champions.
By Wilson Hubbell, Mock Trial Coach

After a very tough 4 rounds at the historic downtown courthouse, USN's A Team finished in the top 2. They faced a formidable Harpeth Hall team (that had just taken down MBA's A Team in the 4th round) in a final to decide the championship. USN won the final match decisively and emerged as district champions.

Binyam Dunne ’26 won MVP for the team, and Alice Littlehale ’26 was awarded Best Attorney for the Defense in the entire tournament. It is hard to explain what an accomplishment earning a Best Attorney award is.

The A Team will now head to the State tournament, held March 20-21 here in Nashville.

But let's not sleep on the USN B Team. After 4 rounds, they emerged as the 4th overall team in the tournament, with Kate Disher ’28 taking home the MVP award. They finished just behind MBA, who were the National Champions last year.

This is the first time in USN history that we have had 2 teams place in the top 5. Amazing stuff. We look forward to many more years of competitive Mock Trial, as 67% of the team are underclassmen.

We were honored to have a C Team this year. They fought hard, and I am certain that nothing can substitute for the experience of facing off against teams in an actual tournament.
